Global Partnership for Education (GPE) - World Bank Group - Sierra Leone: In Margaret’s classroom, stronger foundations take shape
For Margaret, building these skills happens through the daily work of teaching.
But strengthening foundational learning across Sierra Leone requires more than the work of individual teachers. It requires the materials, training, coaching and assessment systems that enable teachers to support children effectively.
The government of Sierra Leone is working to improve foundational learning across the education system. With a US$46.8 million grant, GPE is supporting this effort through teaching and learning materials, teacher training, coaching, assessment and stronger use of education data.
Trans.Lieu was commissioned by GPE to document this story, capturing Margaret’s daily commitment to teaching and illustrating how nationwide efforts in training, materials, and data are transforming foundational education in Sierra Leone.
