WHO Somalia - Trauma-Informed Approach to Mass Casualty Management training

When emergencies strike, saving lives depends on well-prepared responders. With support from the Contingency Fund for Emergencies (CFE) and its funding partners, WHO Somalia delivered from 28–30 April 2025 a three-day Trauma-Informed Approach to Mass Casualty Management training at Burao General Hospital.

More than 20 frontline health workers strengthened their skills in trauma triage, psychological first aid, trauma-informed care, and self-care techniques to cope with the emotional demands of crisis response. The programme combined classroom sessions with realistic mass-casualty simulations, ensuring participants could put theory into practice under pressure.

Trans.Lieu was engaged by WHO Somalia to capture a set of photographs, as well as produce a long and short video snippet of the training activities in Burao.
